CLANTON– Food, water, tarps, and emergency equipment are reaching Alabama communities as storm recovery continues after Hurricane Isaias.

In its Monday update, the Alabama Emergency Management Agency said more assistance is on the way.

Escambia County received water, ready-to-eat meals, and tarps, with additional supplies still pending or en route.

Generator support also reached Florala Health & Rehab in Covington County and Samson Elementary School in Geneva County.

The deliveries follow a Sunday update describing widespread tree damage in southwest Alabama. At that time, EMA reported fewer than 75,000 power outages statewide, down from the storm’s peak.

However, county EMA offices in Baldwin, Crenshaw, and Conecuh were still using generators Sunday morning. Several healthcare facilities in southern Alabama also faced power challenges.

State emergency managers said recovery work could continue for weeks or months in some of the hardest-hit communities.

Residents needing food, water, supplies, or transportation can call or text 2-1-1 and enter their ZIP code to find assistance.
