BOAZ– Firefighters gave the Manor House apartment building the all-clear Monday after a rooftop air-conditioning unit failure prompted an emergency response.
The Boaz Fire Department said crews first responded to reports of an explosion and smoke coming from the roof. When they arrived, firefighters found light smoke near an AC unit.
Boaz fire personnel and Boaz Police Department officers began evacuating the building. Meanwhile, other personnel worked to reach the roof and find the source of the smoke.
The Sardis City Volunteer Fire Department also responded to assist, bringing its ladder truck.
After maintenance personnel arrived, the investigation pointed to some type of failure with the air-conditioning unit. The fire department later announced that everything was all clear.
Manor House is an apartment community in Boaz. Seniors Blue Book lists it as independent living.
Boaz firefighters thanked Marshall County 911, police, Sardis firefighters, and utility personnel for their help during the response.
