GADSDEN– A Walk Through Time returns to Forrest Cemetery Sunday, Oct. 18, from 2 to 4:30 p.m., offering visitors a look at local history through live portrayals.
According to the official event page, participants in period clothing will share the stories of memorable Etowah County residents. Visitors can also stroll from gravesite to gravesite, while many portrayers are descendants of the people they represent.
Instead of a set ticket price, admission is donations only. In addition, organizers say proceeds support the preservation of Forrest Cemetery’s history and dignity.
Parking and Transportation
Parking will be at the old Gadsden High School on 12th Street, between Chestnut and Walnut streets. From there, trolleys will carry visitors to the cemetery’s main gate and return them to the school parking lot.
Meanwhile, a limited number of golf-cart shuttles will operate inside the cemetery for visitors who need assistance. Maps available at the entrance will identify the shuttle stop.
Greater Gadsden Area Tourism lists the cemetery at 700 S. 15th St.
If rain interferes, organizers have set Sunday, Oct. 25, as the rain date.
Before attending, visitors can also find event and parking information at forrestcemetery.com.
