AUSTELL– One visitor has died at Six Flags Over Georgia as crews evacuated riders from the Goliath roller coaster. The evacuation unfolded Monday afternoon, October 12.
WSB-TV said officials confirmed the death to its Cobb County reporter, Michele Newell. However, the initial report did not explain how the visitor died.
WSB-TV’s helicopter showed riders leaving the stopped coaster in groups of four. A train remained near the top of the ride, according to the station.
Meanwhile, Atlanta News First also captured aerial footage of riders receiving help to reach the ground. The station also said it had contacted Six Flags for more information.
The visitor’s identity and the cause of the stoppage were still unclear in the initial reports.
According to the park’s official Goliath page, the ride reaches 200 feet and speeds of 70 mph. It first opened in 2006.
This is a developing story.
