Eight-run first inning propels Collinsville baseball past Pleasant Valley

COLLINSVILLE – An eight-run first inning helped propel the Collinsville Panthers to a 13-5 area baseball win against Pleasant Valley on Tuesday.

Will Edmondson led the Panthers at the plate by going 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk and four RBIs. Jameson Coker went 2-for-3 with a double, two walks, a run and two RBIs. Gavin Lang was 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs and three RBIs.

Shaun Stewart doubled, walked, scored a run and drove in one. Zach Clanton and Mason McAteer both contributed a hit, two walks, a run and a RBI. Jeremiah Killian came away with a hit, a walk and a RBI. Lucas McDaniel scored twice and Eli Griggs scored once.

Clanton came away with the win on the mound. He tossed six innings and gave up an earned run on eight hits with three walks and nine strikeouts. Gavin Lang worked an inning of one-hit ball with two walks and two strikeouts.

Collinsville travels to Pleasant Valley on Thursday.
