ATTALLA– Police are investigating possible human remains found near Bobby Austin Drive after receiving a call Tuesday, Sept. 29.

According to the Attalla Police Department, the call came at approximately 11 a.m. Patrol officers and investigators then responded to the scene.

Police also requested help from the Jacksonville State University Center for Applied Forensics and the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office. The request involved assistance with processing the scene.

However, authorities have not positively identified the remains. Meanwhile, the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences will conduct further examination and identification after receiving the remains.

As the investigation continues, authorities are examining a possible connection to the ongoing missing person investigation involving Nathaniel Jackson.

However, police have not confirmed any connection between the remains and Jackson.

The department also asked the public to avoid speculation and sharing unconfirmed information, out of respect for the family and others affected.

Police said they will release additional information as it becomes available and investigators can confirm it.
