Mrs. Margaret Ann Ashley Rogers, 90, native of Cherokee County, AL, resident of the Newberry Crossroads/Calcedonia Community for over 70 years, passed away unexpectedly Sunday morning at Advent/Redmond Hospital, Rome, GA.
She was the daughter of the late Lenora Ellen Hendon and William Aaron “Willie” Ashley and the wife of the late Dewell A. (D.A.) Rogers of Cherokee County.
A member of the Baptist faith since the age of 13, she was a devoted Christian, with a love for her family and friends. She was a member of Old Nazareth Baptist Church.
Her husband and her family were the love of her life. Her world centered around her family and always helping others.
Surviving are one daughter Martha (Ed) Van Schaick of Landrum, SC; two sons, Jack Rogers (Donna Edwards); Larry (Pam) Rogers of Centre; 12 grandchildren; 39 Great Grandchildren; 17 Great-Great Grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
She retired from Burlington Industries, Shannon, GA.
She was a 25-year member of, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Campobello Chapter 1989 and a charter member of SC Upstate Branch Sons & Daughters of Pilgrims.
She was a friend to many and hater to none. She will be missed by her family, her friends and her community.
Pall Bearers are Roy Latty, Randy Garrett, Mack Allen, Joseph Golden, Joe Hanson, Johnny Pruitt. Honorary Pall Bearers are Buddy Prater, Thomas Jordan Tab Gable.
The family will be at the residence of her son, Larry Rogers, 10865 Co. Road, Centre. The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 22, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Perry Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Wednesday at Perry Funeral Home Chapel at 4:00 p.m. with burial in Old Nazareth Baptist Church with Rev. Brett Clements officiating.
