Cedar Bluff Council Spotlights Winning Teams, Swears In New Officers, and Advances Key Community Decisions

CEDAR BLUFF —The Cedar Bluff Town Council met April 13th, with key recognition and public safety matters highlighting the meeting.
A major focus was a proclamation honoring the Cedar Bluff girls’ and boys’ basketball teams for their success during the 2025–2026 season. Both teams recorded 20 wins, with the recognition dated February 26, 2026. Officials praised the student athletes for their performance and for representing the school and community with pride.
The council also recognized graduates of the Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) program through the Alabama Fire College, highlighting their accomplishments and commitment to public safety.
In public safety matters, the council swore in new police officers Kyle Newton and Brandon Hayes, officially welcoming them to the Cedar Bluff Police Department.
Additionally, EMR pay for the fire department went into effect April 14th.
Council members approved minutes from the March 5, 2026, regular meeting and the March 17, 2026, special-called meeting, along with approval of February 2025 financials.
Department reports followed. The fire department responded to one accidental alarm, four breathing-related calls, two chest pain (non-trauma) calls, and one confined cooking or appliance fire. The building inspector reported 10 building permits, one sign permit, one demolition permit, 25 business licenses, and 95 camper permits issued.
The Cedar Bluff Police Department reported 9,626 miles patrolled, 180 warnings, 58 tickets, 12 felony arrests, 10 misdemeanor arrests, five drug cases, four warrants served, 25 incident reports, nine suspect interviews, four crime tips addressed, four assigned cases, 67 traffic stops, and one open investigation.
In additional business, Dustin Dutton was named to the Finance Committee. The council also discussed renaming Spring Street to address ongoing mail delivery issues.
Council members approved the purchase of 50 new garbage cans at a total cost of $5,241.25, with a possible reduction of $427.
Community announcements included naming this year’s chili cook-off the Tom Wall Memorial Chili Cook-Off in honor of his passing.
The council approved Annexation Ordinance 2026-07 for Randall Fox Residence.
A special-called meeting will be held April 20th at 4:30 p.m. to consider approval of an alcohol license for Little River Marina.
