SUMMERVILLE– The City of Summerville will celebrate four-legged friends Saturday, Aug. 15, with Downtown Dog Daze. The event will run from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Summerville Depot and along East Washington Street.
Dog Daze will offer activities for dogs over six months old and the people who love them. Organizers have planned pet services, vendors, games, and other activities throughout the five-hour event.
The Chattooga County Animal Shelter will offer dog adoption opportunities during the event.
In addition, the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia will sponsor free rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccinations in partnership with the shelter.
Pup Strut, Contests and Pet Activities Planned
One of the featured events will be the Pup Strut at noon. Dog owners can bring their pets out to take part in the event.
Dog Daze will also feature a dog-and-owner look-alike contest and a photo booth.
Meanwhile, Bishop Grooming will provide dog grooming during the celebration. A Pup Cup Station will also give dogs another special treat.
Mr. Pickles Dog Bakery will sponsor a kiddie pool cooling station for dogs. The cooling area will give pets a place to cool down during the outdoor event.
Visitors can also browse vendors selling dog products, arts and crafts. Food vendors will be on site as well.
Steam Train Adds to Downtown Event
The Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum steam engine passenger train will also arrive during Dog Daze.
The train visit will add another attraction for families spending Saturday in downtown Summerville.
The City of Summerville, Mr. Pickles Dog Bakery LLC, and Bishop Grooming are hosting the event.
Dog Daze is free and open to the public. Organizers encourage dog lovers to bring their pets and spend the day enjoying the activities in downtown Summerville.
