Armuchee Iron Bridge Closes Monday for Wooden Deck Replacement

Armuchee iron bridge repair notice showing an October 12 closure and expected October 15 reopening with WEIS branding.

ARMUCHEE– The Armuchee iron bridge closes to all traffic at 8 a.m. Eastern Monday, Oct. 12, for wooden deck replacement.

According to an announcement from Floyd County Public Works published by WRGA, crews expect to finish by 4 p.m. Eastern Thursday, Oct. 15.

The single-lane bridge crosses Armuchee Creek between U.S. 27, also known as Martha Berry Highway, and Scenic Road. It is near the post office in Armuchee.

During the repairs, motorists cannot cross the bridge at any time. As a result, drivers who use the crossing should plan another route and allow extra travel time.

Meanwhile, the Thursday completion time remains an estimate. However, weather or construction conditions could affect the schedule.
