An 18 wheeler and a pickup truck collided on highway 53 in Rome around 6:30am Wednesday causing the 18 wheeler to cross the median and flip on its side. Thankfully there were no injuries reported. The 18 wheeler laying on its side impeded eastbound traffic for hours, with the accident only finally being cleared around 11:30am. Floyd County Sheriff’s Department and Floyd County Fire Department responded to the scene and Loyd’s Rome Towing and Auto Repair came to the rescue with an airbag system to right the flipped semi truck and tow trucks to clear the scene.
