COLLINSVILLE – Eian Bain ran for 256 yards and three touchdowns to help the Valley Head Tigers end a seven-game skid to rival Collinsville with a 27-14 victory in Thursday night football action.

Two of Bain’s touchdowns came in the second half, which broke a 14-14 tie at halftime.

Things started out well enough for Collinsville. Keaton DeBoard guided the Panthers to a touchdown on their first possession of the game, scoring on a 31-yard run to put them ahead, but Bain tied things up with his 32-yard run with 4:23 remaining in the first quarter.

Collinsville regained the lead at 14-7 on a Colton Wills 1-yard run with 10:32 to go in the second quarter, but the Tigers answered again on an Ashton Brown 17-yard run with 4:20 remaining in the first half.

Brown ran for 85 yards and the score. He also recovered a fumble.

Collinsville’s season ends at 3-7. Valley Head evened its record to 5-5 and will host Ragland in the first round of the Class 1A state playoffs next Friday.

We had some great moments this year,” Collinsville coach Ernie Willingham said. “We got better. Our younger ones got better and developed. Our older ones got better and had some great memories.”
