According to Cherokee County Coroner Dr. Jeremy Deaton, first responders were notified at 8:59am Tuesday of the discovery of a deceased male at a home on the Alexis Road in Centre.  The Centre Police Department, JSU Center for Applied Forensics and the Coroner’s Office all responded to the scene and an active death scene investigation was launched.   

Dr. Deaton has informed WEIS Radio News that following several hours of investigation the manner of death has been determined to have been a self-inflicted gunshot wound – adding that, out of respect for the family, he would not be releasing the name of the individual.
