SOUTHSIDE– The Southside Police Department has welcomed four new officers to its ranks. The department also recognized one officer for completing additional state-certified training.
The department identified the new officers as Cliff Farabee, Morgan McDonald, Lee Terry, and Patrick Hall.
In addition, the department congratulated Farabee for completing the Lateral APOST Class at the Northeast Alabama Law Enforcement Academy.
The academy operates on Jacksonville State University’s satellite campus in Anniston. According to its website, APOSTC certifies it as one of 10 law enforcement academies in Alabama.
APOSTC lists 120 hours of instruction for its lateral and refresher academy curriculum. The Northeast Alabama academy conducts the course over three weeks, with students attending four 10-hour training days each week.
During the course, officers must meet requirements for physical agility, safe gun handling, firearms qualification, and emergency vehicle operations. They also complete legal issues and academic tests.
Meanwhile, the Southside Police Department said it is proud to have Farabee, McDonald, Terry, and Hall join its team.
The department also invited residents to welcome the officers and wish them safe and successful careers serving Southside.
