ATTALLA, Ala.– A reported home invasion Thursday evening led to multiple felony charges and left an Attalla police officer injured during a subsequent arrest.
According to the Attalla Police Department, officers responded around 5:00 p.m. on March 19, 2026, to the 500 block of Hale Street. Upon arrival, officers found that the rear door of the residence had been forcibly breached. The victim reported being threatened with a knife during the incident.
Police identified the suspect as the victim’s son, Robert Jary Phillips Jr.
At approximately 9:00 p.m., officers located Phillips’ vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. Authorities say that during the arrest, Phillips became combative and actively resisted officers. While attempting to take him into custody, one officer suffered a broken leg.
Phillips was eventually restrained and taken into custody. He was transported to a local hospital for evaluation before being booked into the Etowah County Detention Center.
He faces the following charges:

Assault, Second Degree
The injured officer received medical treatment and has since been released. He is currently recovering at home.
