Collinsville blanks North Sand Mountain on homecoming

COLLINSVILLE – Kyler Beene ran for three touchdowns and Mason McAteer threw another touchdown pass to Sylas Adams to lead the Collinsville Panthers to a 42-0 Class 2A, Region 8 football victory over North Sand Mountain on homecoming Friday night.

Beene finished with eight carries for 80 yards for the eighth-ranked Panthers (6-1, 5-0). McAteer completed 6-of-13 pass attempts for 135 yards. Sylas Adams caught two passes for 31 yards. He also had three carries for 29 yards with a touchdown. Logan Hanson ran for 72 yards on nine carries with a touchdown.

Beene put the Panthers up 7-0 on a 1-yard run in the first quarter. McAteer connected with Adams for a 17-yard score in the second. Adams also added a 2-yard touchdown run before halftime to give Collinsville a 21-0 advantage.

Beene scored on runs of 25 and 24 yards in the third quarter to put the Panthers in front 35-0. Hanson added a 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth for the final.

Uriel Cornejo connected on all six extra points.

Collinsville has a showdown with top-ranked Fyffe next Friday.
