Locust Fork-A multi-vehicle crash involving a school bus Thursday morning in Blount County left five people injured.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the crash occurred at approximately 7:06 a.m. Feb. 12 on Alabama 79 near Fred Terry Road, about three miles south of Locust Fork.

Troopers said a 2020 Freightliner school bus driven by Thomas S. Edwards, 56, of Trafford, was struck by a 2014 Nissan Rogue driven by Tanner E. Endaz, 33, of Locust Fork. After the initial collision, the bus left the roadway and overturned.

A third vehicle, a 2023 Toyota Tacoma driven by Wesley D. Green, 37, of Hayden, also left the roadway, struck a culvert and overturned.

Endaz was injured and transported to UAB St. Vincent’s Hospital in Oneonta for treatment. Four juvenile passengers on the bus were also injured and taken to a local hospital. Green was not injured.

Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate, and no additional information has been released.

Correction: WEIS initially received reports that a person in one of the vehicles had been killed in the crash. That information was later determined to be inaccurate. The story was removed until official details could be clarified.
