Sentell helps Gaylesville end 7-game skid to Valley Head

VALLEY HEAD – Jack Sentell tallied 256 yards on 17 carries, scored four touchdowns and had three 2-point conversions in helping the Gaylesville Trojans end a seven-game skid to Valley Head on Friday night. The final was 38-30.

Sentell scored his first touchdown on the first play of the game on a 55-yard run. His other touchdowns were from 81, 1 and 2 yards.

Sean Poss added 57 yards on six carries for the Trojans (2-0, 1-0 Class 1A, Region 8).

Cole Hendon had eight tackles on defense. Ben Henderson accounted for seven tackles with three for loss and two assists. Timmy Dawson delivered six tackles and five assists. Sentell finished with four tackles and four assists.

Gaylesville built a 14-0 lead in the second quarter and held a 22-15 advantage at halftime. Valley Head (0-3) tied the game at 22 early in the third quarter. The two teams traded scores from there, and the Trojan defense held on a crucial fourth-and-8 with 2:26 remaining to capture the win.

Gaylesville travels to Spring Garden on Friday.
