HAYDEN – Tatum Perry completed 15-of-22 pass attempts for 237 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for 93 yards on nine carries and added another score to lead the Cherokee County Warriors to a 49-27 victory at Hayden in Class 4A, Region 8 football action on Friday.
The Warriors evened their record at 1-1 with the win. It was also the first under new head coach Bayley Blanchard.
“It’s always good to go on the road and get a region win. Those are tough to get,” Blanchard said. “It doesn’t matter who you play. When you go on the road in the region those games mean a lot. It’s always going to be tough. To come out with that victory means a lot.”
Jayshawn Stroup added 85 yards on 12 carries with three touchdowns for the Warriors.
“I thought they loaded the box a lot, but we were still able to run the football on them,” Blanchard said. “Most of the time when we weren’t getting positive yardage it was because of mistakes we were making. We got it cleaned up, but you’ve got to give credit to Hayden. They got after it and had really great effort.”
Isaiah Young caught five passes for 130 yards and a touchdown. Keshawn Thomas had a pair of catches for 48 yards and a score. Nate Black also caught a pair of passes for 19 yards and a touchdown.
