An Alcohol Beverage License was approved for the Weis Lake 360 Restaurant, along with a resolution naming the poll workers for the upcoming municipal election. The Zoning Board representative made a presentation to the Council about upgrades or modifications to the Zoning Ordinance for the Town. He asked the Council to study the information and be ready to adopt it at the next Council meeting. The Fire Department gave the fire report for the month and asked the Council to approve report software from Emergency Reporting in the amount of $2595 per year with an initial $500 import fee. The Fire Department also asked the Council to approve the purchase of a remanufactured engine or a new engine for the Brush Truck which has been in the garage since the 4th of July Fireworks event. The truck run hot that night and ruined the engine. The remanufactured engine quote was $7950 and the new engine was $10,500 with installation included. The quote was from Stroked Out Diesel in Piedmont. Councilman Bond said the quote did not specify what type engine, horsepower, or brand. He told the Council and Fire Department it was not complete. Bond said he thought they needed another quote and said he would have one by the end of day on Tuesday. (8/12/2025) No Action was taken but the Mayor called a Special Called meeting for Wednesday afternoon (8/13/2025) at 4PM to deal with the issue.
The Council approved the Volunteer Fire Application from Haley Sprayberry. Her drug screening has been done and is clean.
The Council discussed a bill submitted by Terrance Dixon for dirt work performed at the Police Department. Councilman Bond said Dixon did not do the work that he had quoted to the Council and pulled his equipment off the job before completing the work. Dixon submitted an invoice to the Town for $7500 for the work he had performed. Councilman Bond said he wanted Mr. Dixon to come to the Council and explain the work he had done for the $7500. The issue was Tabled for The Special Called Meeting on Wednesday afternoon to try to work out the issue.
