Special Called Meeting of Cedar Bluff Town Council

The Town Council convened a Special Meeting at noon on Friday at the request of Council Member,  Angela Ritchey.

She said she just wanted to clarify her statement during Monday’s Council Meeting where she said she wasn’t sure the Town’s Alcohol Tax money could be used for non academic support at the Cedar Bluff School.

When the Town’s Alcohol Sales ordinance was drafted, it specified that 20 percent of the tax revenue would be donated to the Cedar Bluff School for non academic purposes. Since then more than two hundred fifty thousand dollars has been sent to the school. The revenue generated by the tax is $11 to $15 thousand annually.

Ritchey told WEIS Radio News, “She just wanted to clarify her statement. She did research and found what had been paid and she was glad to support it.”

Also on the agenda for the Special Called Meeting, was to discuss the Police Department Personnel situation. The department has the Chief and one officer. Chief Stepps tells WEIS Radio News, they need to fill the positions of Investigator and 3 Patrol Officers.
