A Single-Vehicle Accident Early this Morning Left One Person Critically Injured in Cherokee County.

CHEROKEE COUNTY The crash occurred around 1:00 a.m. on Alabama Highway 9 South near 5187. According to emergency responders, the vehicle left the roadway, traveled down a steep embankment, and struck several trees.

Due to the difficult terrain, additional manpower was required to reach and extricate the single occupant. Crews from Ellisville Fire, Centre Fire, and the Cherokee County Rescue Squad worked to remove the victim from the wreckage.

The occupant was transported from the scene to the Cherokee Medical heliport, where Survival Flight 16 out of Rainbow City was waiting. The individual was then airlifted to UAB Medical Center for treatment.

Ellisville Fire, Centre Fire, Atrium Floyd EMS, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department, and Alabama State Troopers responded to the scene.
