Juvenile Taken Into Custody After Orbeez Gun Incident at Cedar Bluff Park

Cedar Bluff — A juvenile was taken into custody Monday evening following an incident involving an Orbeez-style gel blaster at the Cedar Bluff Town Park, according to the Cedar Bluff Police Department.
A witness said the incident occurred while families and children were gathered at the park, including a group of youths playing basketball. A witness reported that the juvenile arrived in a vehicle, exited, and began firing the Orbeez gun toward individuals at the basketball courts. At least one person was struck and reportedly sustained injuries.
The device used, commonly referred to as an Orbeez or Orbigel gun, is similar in function to an airsoft gun and is intended for recreational use with proper protective equipment. According to the witness, the suspect initially left the scene after the first round of shots was fired but later returned and discharged the gel blaster again from inside the vehicle.
The incident occurred as a Cedar Bluff Town Hall meeting was underway nearby. Cedar Bluff Police responded quickly and took the suspect into custody.
Cedar Bluff Police confirmed the details of the witness account and stated that the juvenile suspect has since been turned over to juvenile probation authorities. Due to the involvement of minors, no additional information can be released at this time. Updates will be provided if more information becomes available.
