Regional Medical Center in Anniston Acquired by Orlando Health in Major Healthcare System Deal

ANNISTON — Regional Medical Center, a 323-bed hospital in Anniston, has been acquired by Orlando Health, a private, not-for-profit healthcare system operating across the Southeast and in Puerto Rico.

City officials said the agreement follows “months of intentional work behind the scenes” and is aimed at ensuring the long-term stability of the facility, which was previously owned by the City of Anniston.

Mayor Ciara Smith-Roston said the partnership will position the hospital as a regional hub for high-quality healthcare while strengthening its financial and operational sustainability.

Orlando Health officials have indicated the transition will support continued access to care and expanded services for the region. The health system operates a network of hospitals and care facilities across multiple states.

City leaders said the primary goal of the agreement is to ensure Regional Medical Center remains strong, sustainable, and capable of meeting the community’s healthcare needs into the future.
