Two Etowah County women have been charged with Chemical Endangerment of a Child.
26 year old Susan Emily Ann Ellis of Rainbow City was arrested July 18th, after being taken to a hospital on July 16th for a possible overdose of Klonopin; she was 22 weeks pregnant at the time – the medication had reportedly belonged to Ellis’ deceased grandmother.
The Etowah County Department of Human Resources was then contacted along with the Sheriffs Office; Ellis was booked into the Etowah County Detention Center and later released on a $5,000 bond. She is now required to report for drug testing.
36 year old Kimberly Dawn Roden of Altoona was arrested July 19th after she admitted to taking Loratabs, and smoking marijuana, during her pregnancy – her child was delivered prematurely in June and remains in a Birmingham area hospital.
Roden was booked into the Etowah County Detention Center and was later released on a $20,000 property bond.
