ATMORE– Alabama executed Jeremy Tremaine Williams by lethal injection Thursday evening for the 2021 sexual assault and murder of 5-year-old Kamarie Holland.

According to Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall, officials cleared the execution to begin at 5:53 p.m. The state carried it out at the William C. Holman Correctional Facility in Atmore.

Williams was pronounced dead at 6:16 p.m.

“Justice has been served,” Marshall said in a statement following the execution.

Marshall described the case as one of the most atrocious crimes committed against an innocent child. He also expressed hope that survivors of Williams’ crimes find comfort knowing he cannot harm another child.

Williams Pleaded Guilty to Capital Murder

Marshall’s office said Williams took Kamarie from her mother’s home in Columbus, Georgia, on Dec. 12, 2021. He then drove the child to Alabama.

Williams first took Kamarie to his home. Afterward, he took her to an abandoned house in Phenix City.

There, Williams sexually assaulted and strangled the child, according to the Attorney General’s Office. Williams also recorded portions of the abuse on his cellphone.

Authorities later arrested Williams in a Phenix City hotel. Meanwhile, law enforcement officers found Kamarie’s body while Williams remained in custody.

On Christmas Day 2021, Williams gave investigators a five-hour recorded statement. In it, he admitted taking, sexually assaulting, and killing Kamarie.

Williams also admitted forcing Kamarie to smoke methamphetamine, according to Marshall’s office.

Furthermore, the statement says Williams confessed to sexually assaulting at least two other children younger than 6. Investigators later confirmed those previously unreported assaults with the victims.

Williams also confessed to killing his one-month-old daughter in Alaska, Marshall’s office said.

On March 26, 2024, Williams pleaded guilty to four capital murder counts in Russell County Circuit Court.

He also pleaded guilty to producing obscene material involving Kamarie and abusing her corpse. Other guilty pleas involved human trafficking and conspiracy to commit human trafficking.

In addition, Williams pleaded guilty to sodomy and sexual abuse involving a cousin younger than 12.

Williams Asked State to Carry Out Death Sentence

Following his sentencing, Williams wrote several letters asking to end his appeals. He also requested that the state carry out his death sentence.

However, Alabama law required the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals to review the case. The court affirmed Williams’ capital murder convictions and death sentence on March 27, 2026.

The Alabama Supreme Court authorized the execution on June 16. Two days later, Gov. Kay Ivey scheduled the execution.

Marshall thanked his office’s Capital Litigation Division and Victims’ Services Unit for their work. He also recognized the Russell County District Attorney’s Office for its role in the case.
