October Arrest File for DeKalb County

During the Month of October – 17 individuals were Arrested on Various Drug Charges in DeKalb County

With the help of DeKalb County Deputies, Narcotics Agents and the Investigations Unit, Henagar, Sylvania, Ider, and Fyffe Police Departments and also the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office a total of 17 were arrested on drug related charges – during the month of October. 

On Sunday, October 8th – a Corrections Officer with the DeKalb County Detention Center discovered an inmate, who had been recently arrested, to be in possession of fentanyl.  Kansas Shay Wilkerson (25 of Section) was charged with Trafficking in Any Illegal Drug and Promote Prison Contraband 2nd Degree. 

On Monday, October 9th, Narcotics Agents conducted a traffic stop on Highway 35 close to Wal-Mart.  Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found in the vehicle.  John Weston Mitchell (age 38 of Gaylesville) was charged with the Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. 

On Tuesday, October 10th, Officers with Henagar PD conducted a traffic stop on Highway 40.  While speaking with occupants of the vehicle, Officers saw an open container of alcohol.  Kratom and drug paraphernalia were found inside that vehicle.  Julia Michelle Brown (46 from Henagar) was charged with Combined Influence, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Open Container – Alcohol in Vehicle and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. 

Wednesday, October 11th, DeKalb County Deputies responded to a call of trespassing at a residence on Highway 227 finding a male subject passed out in his vehicle.  Cody Mark Jones (33 of Collinsville) was arrested for a Probation Violation, and during a search of that vehicle, drug paraphernalia was found.  Jones was also charged with the Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  

Also, on Wednesday, Officers with Sylvania PD made a traffic stop on County Road 116 finding both methamphetamine and marijuana in the vehicle.  Erik Scott Trotman (39 of Sylvania) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and 2 warrants for Failure to Appear. 

On Thursday, October 12th, DeKalb County Deputies responded to a call of a suspicious person at a residence on County Road 89 in Mentone.  Upon arriving, the subject fled on foot, but was quickly apprehended.  Gary Dejuan Higdon (age 36 of Mentone) was found in possession of both methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.  Higdon was charged with Attempting to Elude, the Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, the Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Resisting Arrest and Public Intoxication.

Also, on Thursday, Officers with the Ider PD were conducting a check point on County Road 140 and County Road 739.  While on the check point, a vehicle with two adults and a small child pulled up with a strong odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle.  In the backseat, beside the small child, a bag containing methamphetamine, ecstasy, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found.  Tristain Tyler Garrett (age 25 from Ider) was charged with the Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substance, with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, with the Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree, Chemical Endangerment of Exposing a Child, DUI (controlled Substance) and Reckless Endangerment.  Raven Leigh Works (24 of Ider) was charged with Chemical Endangerment of Exposing a Child, Reckless Endangerment, Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substance, with the Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree. 

On Tuesday, October 17th, Officers with Jackson County, along with DeKalb County Investigations Unit conducted a search warrant for stolen property at a residence on County Road 499 finding methamphetamine and fentanyl in the home.  Kennedy Lasha Steele (age 24 of Flat Rock) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance (x5), Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree, with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and with Receiving Stolen Property 1st Degree.  Terrence Bailey Bradford (27 from Flat Rock) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance (x5), Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Persons Forbidden to Possess Pistol, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd and for Receiving Stolen Property 1st Degree.

On Friday, October 20th, Narcotics Agents conducted a search warrant at a residence in Sylvania finding approximately 99 grams of methamphetamine.  Michael Stanley Townsel (age 62 of Fort Payne) was charged with the Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Trafficking in any Illegal Drug and also  Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. 

On Monday, October 23rd, Officers with the Fyffe PD conducted a traffic stop on Traylor Street finding methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.  Benny Ray Crocker (32 of Fyffe) was charged with the Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance.

On Tuesday, October 24th, Officers with Sylvania PD conducted a traffic stop on County Road 27 finding methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.  Brandy Cornelius Strickland (45 of Sylvania) was charged with the Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and with the Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Monday, October 30th, Officers with the Henagar PD made contact with Jacob Adam Biddle (32 of Valley Head) after it was reported he had been trying to enter a vehicle.  Biddle was found to be in possession of methamphetamine; he was charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, the Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, with Resisting Arrest and Probation Violation. 

On Tuesday, October 31st, DeKalb County Deputies were serving papers at a residence in Collinsville.  After arriving at the house, a strong odor of marijuana was detected coming from within the residence.  During a search, over a pound of marijuana was found, along with drug paraphernalia and THC vape pens. Marti Kaye Honeycutt (44 of Collinsville), Gregory Dalton Honeycutt (20 of Collinsville) and John Jay Stern (60 of Collinsville) were charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st, the Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance (x2) and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
