Centre Man Charged with Attempted Murder

UPDATED

We had reports of a shooting incident at Trammell Welding on Highway 9 north in Cedar Bluff at around 10:15 Tuesday morning, followed by reports of an individual leaving the scene in a stolen truck.

Cedar Bluff Police Officers and Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Investigators were in pursuit, and Floyd County authorities were notified.  The latest information we had was that the individual had bailed out of the vehicle and was being sought in a wooded area around Hardeman Cemetery – that’s off Highway 9 north in the area of County Road 773.

Tracking dogs were brought in.

It appears no one was hurt during the incident at Trammell Welding.

We’ve yet to receive any official information from law enforcement officials regarding that matter – however, Billy Wayne Trammell, age 49 of Centre – was booked in at the Cherokee County Detention Center just before 5:00pm Tuesday, on charges of Attempted Murder and Theft of Property 1st Degree.

We’ll have more information as it becomes available.
