Veterans Day Events Across Northeast Alabama and Northwest Georgia: The WEIS Community Guide

Patriotic Veterans Day events guide featuring an American flag and Honoring Our Veterans lettering for the WEIS listening area.

CENTRE– Veterans Day events across the WEIS listening area will bring neighbors together to honor those who served. These gatherings also offer families an opportunity to show their appreciation through school tributes, parades, shared meals, and music.

Veterans Day falls on Wednesday, Nov. 11, but local observances begin earlier and continue afterward. It also reaches across the five Alabama and two Georgia counties in the WEIS listening area.

Events appear by county, then by date and starting time. When events share a start time, listings follow alphabetical order. Alabama times are Central, but Georgia times are Eastern.

Have a school program, church gathering, parade, meal, ceremony, or other veterans event to add? Email the details to weisnews@weisradio.com, including the date, time, location, organizer, contact information, and any registration requirements.

A Personal Thank-You From WEIS

Here at WEIS, our veterans are part of our family. They are the neighbors we see at the grocery store, the grandparents cheering in the stands, and the friends who quietly help when someone needs a hand.

To veterans of every branch, thank you. That gratitude reaches veterans of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, and Coast Guard. We also thank those who served in the National Guard and Reserve components, along with the families who stood beside them.

We also appreciate the holidays you missed and the time you spent away from home. Those sacrifices still deserve recognition, long after military service ends. Whether you served here at home or far from it, your service matters to us.

We are proud of our country because of the men and women who answered its call. From all of us in the WEIS family, thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and the example you continue to set. We hope these gatherings give our communities another opportunity to say it in person.

Help Us Recognize Every Community

A small school assembly or church supper can mean as much to a veteran as a parade. We also want to hear about those gatherings.

Send Veterans Day events to weisnews@weisradio.com. Please include a flyer or organizer’s announcement when available, plus any RSVP deadlines, admission charges, or eligibility requirements.

Before attending, check with organizers for changes, ticket availability, and school visitor requirements. Together, we can help our veterans find a warm welcome across the WEIS listening area.
