FORT PAYNE– Norfolk Southern Railroad officials plan to close the Highway 35/5th Street North railroad crossing in Fort Payne for maintenance Tuesday, Nov. 3. Work begins at 8 a.m.
Railroad officials anticipate a closure of approximately six hours, so motorists should plan an alternate route during the work. That schedule would put reopening around 2 p.m.; however, the notice does not provide a guaranteed reopening time.
Drivers should also allow extra travel time when heading through the area and watch for traffic-control measures near the crossing.
