ETOWAH COUNTY-Deputy Danny Fincher has retired following nearly 30 years of service with the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office.

Fincher began his career with the sheriff’s office in 1996. During his tenure, he served as a patrol deputy, a member of the Mounted Posse and a pilot with the Aviation Unit.

His public service career began before he joined the department. Fincher first served in the United States Coast Guard before transferring to the United States Army.

While serving in the Army, he fulfilled his goal of becoming a pilot. He later continued his aviation career as a medical helicopter pilot, using his training to assist with lifesaving missions.

The Etowah County Sheriff’s Office said Fincher brought professionalism, humility and a strong commitment to service to each role he held.

His career included service to both the nation and the local community through the military, medical aviation and law enforcement.

Sheriff Horton and members of the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office thanked Fincher for his decades of service, sacrifice and dedication to the citizens of Etowah County.

The department also wished Fincher and his family good health, happiness and new adventures during his retirement.
