In recognition of this special month set aside each year to emphasize the importance of recognizing Elder Abuse, representatives from the Cherokee County Department of Human Resources met with the Centre City Council during the regular Council meeting Tuesday evening.

Mayor Jay Howell thanked DHR for all they do for the Residents of Centre and Cherokee County.

June is recognized as Elder Abuse Awareness Month, with World Elder Abuse Awareness Day observed globally on June 15. The initiative aims to protect older adults from physical, emotional, and financial abuse by educating communities on recognizing warning signs and providing avenues for reporting.
