CENTRE– Cherokee County’s new Rave Alert emergency notification system officially became active Thursday, October 8.

The Cherokee County Emergency Management Agency says the system automatically enrolled existing Code Red emergency-alert subscribers. As a result, those residents do not need to register again.

Meanwhile, residents who want to begin receiving alerts can text CHEROKEEALERTS to 77295. They can also sign up through the county’s Rave registration page.

The county’s signup graphic also lists phone calls, text messages, email, and social media as notification methods. However, message and data rates may apply, and the service sends text messages on an as-needed basis.

In its announcement, the agency thanked residents for their patience during the change. It said the goal remains providing the best services to Cherokee County residents.
