DeKalb County Murder Suspect Extradited from Georgia

FORT PAYNE, Ala.- A DeKalb County murder suspect has been extradited to Alabama following his arrest in Georgia last year.

Jail records show 23-year-old Christopher Brayden Jones was booked into the DeKalb County Jail on February 4, 2026.

Jones is charged in connection with the shooting death of Marcus Adam Battles in Mentone. His arrest followed a 21-day investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies in both Alabama and Georgia.

Jones was initially taken into custody on unrelated charges in Georgia on May 1.

DeKalb County investigators traveled to Georgia last May to assist with securing evidence and coordinating with authorities ahead of Jones’ extradition.
