Dense Fog Advisory Issued for WEIS Listening Area

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Dense Fog Advisory for portions of Central and Northeast Alabama, including Cherokee and surrounding counties.
The advisory was issued at 6:07 a.m. Wednesday and remains in effect until 9 a.m. CST. Forecasters warn that visibility may be reduced to one-quarter mile or less at times due to dense fog.
Counties affected by the advisory include Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Etowah, Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair, and Talladega. Cities within the advisory area include Centre, Gadsden, Anniston, Birmingham, Pell City, Alabaster, Sylacauga, Columbiana, Talladega, Moody, Hoover, Oneonta, and Pelham.
The National Weather Service cautions that low visibility could make travel hazardous, particularly during the morning commute.
Motorists are urged to slow down, use headlights, and allow extra following distance while driving in foggy conditions. Drivers should also be prepared for rapidly changing visibility, especially in low-lying areas and near bodies of water.
