At the September 14th council meeting work session, Mayor Bill Warren announced that he’d received a letter from Governor Kay Ivey that morning. The correspondence stated that the town of Cedar Bluff has been awarded federal funds in the amount of $309,120 for the construction of a sidewalk from Old Highway 9 and State Road 68. Warren clarified that this would connect Cedar Bluff School to the park.
Also in the work session, a representative from MDA Professional Group PC interpreted the town’s audit for the council members. He noted that the town has already implemented some of the firm’s suggestions.
In the meeting itself, the council accepted the low bid for the Sewell Ferry Road Project. Mayor Warren stated that the bid of $386,238.89 was lower than expected. The difference will allow sealing, patching, and repair to extend farther down the road than the council had first anticipated.
The members approved a liquor license application for the Quickmart, contingent that the business passes its building inspection and an amendment to the garbage ordinance, removing the “consent to owner” subsection.
Finally, the council approved the 2026/27 budget. Councilman Adam McNabb noted that the document is a “tighter spending budget,” and department heads and departments will be more responsible and accountable.
