SPRING CREEK — One person was injured in an early-morning house fire in the Spring Creek community during the pre-dawn hours of Wednesday.

According to fire officials, units from the Spring Creek, Ellisville, and McCord’s fire departments were dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 300 block of County Road 573, also known as Sandy Shores. Atrium Floyd EMS also responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the home fully involved with heavy fire conditions. The blaze was also threatening a nearby residence and a camper. A vehicle and an outbuilding became involved in the fire as well. Fire crews reported downed power lines at the scene, complicating firefighting efforts as crews worked in below-freezing temperatures.

Officials said only one person was believed to be inside the home at the time of the fire. That individual sustained injuries and was transported by Atrium Floyd EMS to a nearby hospital for further treatment and evaluation. No additional injuries were reported.

Cherokee Electric Cooperative responded to disconnect electrical service to the residence to ensure the safety of firefighters. Due to limited water access, a water shuttle operation was established using nearby hydrants, with tanker trucks from the Ellisville and McCord’s fire departments relaying water to pumpers actively fighting the fire.
