
ANNISTON, Ala.– One person was taken to a hospital after being rescued from a structure fire Monday morning in Anniston.
According to a post from the Anniston Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched to a fire on Wilmer Avenue at 10:08 am.
When crews arrived, they found two people inside the structure. Both individuals were rescued from the home. One person was transported to a local hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation, while the second person was evaluated at the scene and was not injured.
Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control. Photos released by the fire department showed significant fire damage to the kitchen area of the home.
“Today’s response reflects the high level of training, readiness, and dedication of our firefighters,” said Johnnie Phelps. “Our personnel performed with excellence and exemplified our commitment to protecting life and property.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
