Mrs. Edna Jo Jennings, age 89 of Centre, passed away peacefully on Saturday
morning, June 7th, surrounded by her family and the enduring love of her Cherokee County
community, a place she called home her entire life.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Tuesday, June 10th at the Cherokee Memorial Funeral
Home Chapel, with Rev. Barry Kerr officiating. Burial will follow in the Jennings Chapel Cemetery.
The family will be receiving friends Monday, from 5-7pm at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Nephews, Grandnephews, and Great-Grandnephews. Honorary Pallbearers will
be cherished members of the family.
Survivors include her Daughter, Vicki Beck; Son, Gifford Jennings; Brothers, Calvin and Doyle Kerr;
Sister, Claudette Ledbetter; Granddaughters, Jade Jacoway, Meg Crane, Alanna Beck, and Alex
Jennings; Grandsons, Jack Lecroy and Chris Beck; several Great-Grandchildren, Great-Great
Grandchildren; Nieces and Nephews, and Cousins also survive.
A woman of strength, grace, and enduring purpose, Edna lived a life marked by service and love for
her community. She was a self-employed farmer, a talented caterer, a successful business owner, a
passionate gardener, and a devoted community leader. Whatever she put her hands to, Edna did so
with heart, skill, and commitment.
Edna was married for over 55 years to Jack Jennings. Together, they built a life grounded in hard
work, shared values, and family, leaving a legacy now carried forward by her children, grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Among her many contributions, Edna was the founder and a lifetime member of the McCord’s
Crossroads Homemakers Club, established in 1987. Her passion and commitment to preserving the
history, homemaking traditions, and community spirit of Cherokee County were widely admired. Her
love for home, tradition, and heritage continues to inspire all who knew her.
Edna will be remembered not only for her many accomplishments, but for her dedication to the
community, generous spirit, and ability to make everyone feel like family. Her legacy will continue to
bloom in gardens she planted, thousands of meals she prepared, and in the hearts of all who were
fortunate to know her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Jennings, and daughter, Cherry Lecroy.
