LEESBURG– Arien Gage Gray faces a third-degree domestic violence charge following a Saturday morning disturbance in Leesburg. The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and Leesburg Fire Department responded to a residence on County Road 267.
Initially, the caller reported a man who should not have been on the property. The caller also said he had set a vehicle on fire and threatened to burn the house.
However, the Sheriff’s Office said Gray had started a small fire at the rear of his own vehicle. Meanwhile, firefighters staged nearby until law enforcement officers secured the scene.
When cleared to enter, firefighters found the vehicle was not burning, according to Leesburg Fire Chief Joe Sonaty. Crews then returned to service, Sonaty said.
The Sheriff’s Office also described Gray as belligerent and said deputies arrested him after investigating. Officials identified the charge as third-degree domestic violence involving harassment.
Jail records list Gray as 29 years old and give a Gadsden address. Records also show his booking Saturday at 11:23 a.m. and release Sunday at 2:42 p.m.
Gray is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
