Cherokee County Board of Education Sets Special Called Meeting, First FY27 Budget Hearing for Aug. 31

Cherokee County Board of Education special called meeting and first FY27 budget hearing on August 31 in Centre

CENTRE– The Cherokee County Board of Education will hold a special called meeting and its first FY27 budget hearing Monday, Aug. 31, at 4 p.m.

The meeting will take place at the Cherokee County Schools Central Office, located at 200 Armory Road in Centre.

The agenda includes public comments, approval of the Aug. 10 board meeting minutes, and a review of policy manual revisions. Board members are also scheduled to conduct the FY27 budget hearing.

The board will consider renewing participation in the Alabama Trust for Boards of Education general liability and errors and omissions liability fund. Members will also consider renewal of the system’s automobile fund participation.

Additional business includes agreements, bids, travel, professional development, and approval of the superintendent’s 2026-27 Sick Leave Committee representative.

The board is also scheduled to consider personnel action and review current job postings.

The meeting will conclude with a superintendent’s update, other business, and adjournment.
