Collinsville battles back, but falls at Gordo in decisive baseball playoff game

GORDO – The Collinsville Panthers battled back from a four-run deficit with a five-run top of the sixth inning, but Gordo scored the tying run in the bottom half, then the winning run in the seventh to take a 6-5 victory in the decisive game of their Class 3A second round baseball playoff series on Saturday.

The Panthers out-hit the Green Wave 11-6. Will Edmondson went 3-for-4. Jeremiah Killian was 2-for-4 with a double and a RBI.

Colton Pettus went 1-for-2 with a RBI. Shaun Stewart was 1-for-2 with a walk and a run. Jameson Coker went 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Mason McAteer was 1-for-3 with a run. Gavin Lang went 1-for-4 with a run. Jake Middlebrooks was 1-for-4 and Kyler Beene scored a run.

McAteer tossed four innings and gave up four earned runs on three hits with a walk. Brantley Daugherty worked an inning and gave up an earned run with a walk and a strikeout. Edmondson surrendered an unearned run on three hits with a walk in an inning.

Collinsville finishes the season at 20-10.
