Sand Rock boys rally past Cedar Bluff 73-68, on to 2A, Area 13 title game

GADSDEN – Ty Traffanstedt tallied 18 points, including four 3-pointers. He also contributed eight rebounds, four assists and a steal in leading the Sand Rock Wildcats to a 73-68 comeback win over Cedar Bluff in the Class 2A, Area 13 basketball tournament at Gaston on Monday.

Jonas Browder tossed in 17 points for Sand Rock (17-12), including five treys. Will Cleere collected 16 points, four boards and a steal. Thomas Snead connected on a pair of treys and had eight points. Wyatt Miller delivered six points, seven rebounds, four blocks, an assist and a steal. Cam Gifford finished with five points, 12 rebounds, nine assists and a block.

Kuper Bradley sank seven 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 27 points to lead Cedar Bluff. Shon Gleen added 13 points and Zach Jones had 11. Jonas Brown and Isaac Bishop both finished with seven points.

Cedar Bluff led 21-15 at the end of the first quarter and 30-26 at halftime. The Tigers took a 54-49 edge into the fourth quarter before Sand Rock rallied for the win.

Sand Rock will take on Gaston for the area title on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Gaston defeated Pleasant Valley 61-41 in Monday’s other tournament semifinal.
