A Heat Advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. Monday through 9 p.m. Tuesday as dangerously hot conditions and high humidity are expected to impact the area. Officials say heat index values could climb as high as 107 degrees, increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses.
Residents are urged to stay hydrated, spend time in air-conditioned spaces when possible, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, and check on family members, neighbors, and others who may be more vulnerable to the heat. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles.
Those working or spending extended time outdoors should take extra precautions, including scheduling strenuous activity for the early morning or evening hours, wearing lightweight clothing, drinking plenty of water, and taking frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas.
Anyone showing signs of heat illness should be moved immediately to a cool, shaded location. Officials warn that heat stroke is a medical emergency and advise calling 911 right away if severe symptoms appear.
