ANNISTON – Local residents interested in appearing on the big screen will soon have an opportunity as producers of the upcoming feature film Model Citizen are seeking background actors for scenes scheduled to be filmed in Anniston later this summer.
According to information shared by the Jacksonville State University Department of Theatre and Film, filming will take place at Fort McClellan in Anniston between July 29 and August 8, 2026. While the university shared the casting notice, officials emphasized that JSU is not involved in the casting process.
Model Citizen is set in a near-future America where death row appeals are transformed into a live-streamed clemency competition known as Public Appeal. The story follows three inmates inside Fort McAdams as they compete to earn public sympathy in hopes of surviving.
Producers are currently casting several background and featured extra roles for the production, including merchandise vendors, audience members attending the fictional Public Appeal event, and protestors.
Individuals interested in participating should submit a recent headshot or selfie along with the dates they are available between July 29 and August 8. Applicants may also include an acting résumé, although one is not required.
Submissions should be emailed directly to casting coordinator Emily Reuijl at: emilyreuijl7@gmail.com.
The opportunity offers area residents a chance to take part in a feature film production while showcasing Northeast Alabama as a filming location.
The casting information was released through the Jacksonville State University Department of Theatre and Film, which noted that all casting inquiries should be directed to the production’s casting coordinator.
