City Of Piedmont Regular Council Meeting

During the Tuesday evening Piedmont City Council meeting, Mayor Bill Baker informed the Council the operational expenses for the past 2 weeks were $651,496.39, which included two weeks of payroll. The bills were approved for payment.

Mayor Baker, informed the Council he felt they should hold off until the next Council meeting to review Step 1 for the Employee Wage Increase. The Council voted unanimously to table this.

The Council then discussed briefly the 2024-2025 Budget. The Council will review this at the next meeting.

Next on the Agenda, Mr. Lane Weatherbee was reappointed to the Commercial Development Board in which the Council approved.

Police Chief Nathan Johnson, gave the Police Report for September. The Piedmont Police Department had a total of 34 arrests on 33 Misdemeanor charges and 9 Felony charges. He also stated there were 17 total Abatement cases.

Fire Chief Todd Kirkland gave the Fire Report for September. There were 80 incidents.

City Clerk Carl Hinton informed the Council the grand total expenses for Café at Fagan’s Park were $4,697.95 Next, Clerk Hinton informed the Council Kevin Farmer was the highest bidder for the Head Start Property at $5, 620.

In Mayor’s comments, Baker spoke about his friend and former City of Piedmont employee Jeff Sims who passed away recently from leukemia. Please have him in your prayers.

The next City of Piedmont Council Meeting will be on Election Day November 5th in the Civic Center.
