RAGLAND – The Spring Garden Panthers built a 28-point halftime lead and held a 41-0 advantage before Ragland got on the scoreboard late in the third quarter in a 47-21 Class 1A Region 8 football win on Friday.

Connor Bates led the Panthers (3-0, 1-0) with 100 yards on 15 carries and two touchdowns on runs of 11 and 15 yards. He also had an interception for a 20-yard touchdown on defense. Clayton Sadler tallied 69 yards and a score on 10 totes.

John Welsh accounted for the first two Panther touchdowns. He caught five passes for 117 yards, including a 51-yard touchdown for Spring Garden’s first score. He also ran in for a 15-yard score in the second quarter. Noah Barber was 6 of 15 passing for 127 yards and a touchdown.

Sadler, Colton Driskell and Grey Simpson each had six tackles to lead the Panther defense.
