Listeria Concerns Continue to Grow

Listeria Monocytogenes (aka simply “Listeria”) is a harmful bacteria that can cause a serious infection known as “Listeriosis”.

High-risk groups include pregnant women – the elderly – and individuals with weakened immune systems.

The symptoms of can be severe:

-Fever

-Muscle aches

-Stiff neck

-Convulsions

-Confusion

…and bear in mind most Publix stores in Alabama sell Boar’s Head meats in their deli departments.   Publix has 90 stores across the state of Alabama.

The issue with the meat began in July – BUT it’s just NOW that it’s causing serious illnesses and deaths.

Many people are pointing fingers at a Boar’s Head plant, which is located in Virginia.  The plant has been featured on CBS News – due to “dozens of violations” and several of those violations had to do with bugs, mold, and mildew.  The recall of meat impacted 71 different products in the Boar’s Head lineup.  Thus far, 57 people have been hospitalized and 9 have died due to the outbreak.

The USDA says they’ve sent a large group of inspectors, to make sure that the company is operating safely.

Check your meat, or simply toss it out.
