PLEASANT VALLEY – A week after scoring 69 points at Ragland, the Spring Garden Panthers were shut out Friday night at Class 2A, No. 10 Pleasant Valley by the final of 27-0.

It was the first time the Panthers (3-3) had been shut out in a football game since Nov. 15, 2024 in the second round of the Class 1A state playoffs against Berry of Fayette.

The Raiders (5-1) took a 14-0 halftime advantage and held Spring Garden’s offensive duo of Ben Baker and Brady Ruark in check. Baker gained just 37 yards on eight carries. Ruark had 20 yards on eight carries and completed just 3-of-11 pass attempts for 12 yards with an interception.

Ryder Kralka led the Panthers with 40 yards on six carries.

Cayden Thompson posted seven tackles and had a sack on defense for Spring Garden. Bryant Williams registered three sacks and Isaac Parris had an interception.

Virginia Tech commitment Braxton Salster led the Raiders with 160 yards and a pair of touchdowns rushing. He also threw for 89 yards and two scores.

Spring Garden jumps back into Class 1A, Region 8 play at home against Cedar Bluff on Friday.
