Gaylesville clobbers Asbury for first 2-0 start since 2013

ALBERTVILLE – The Gaylesville Trojans are 2-0 to begin a football season for the first since 2013. Alex Baty ran for 136 yards on 14 carries and scored three touchdowns, and Aydn Heinrich had 131 yards on just three totes with two scores to lead the Trojans to a 58-6 rout at Asbury on Thursday.

Jack Sentell added 74 yards and a touchdown five carries. Karrson Ray gained 43 yards and a score on five carries. Ben Henderson had 39 yards and a touchdown on seven carries. Hunter Allmond was 5 of 9 passing for 42 yards for the Trojans.

Heinrich led the Trojan defense with six tackles. Bradley Smith and Timmy Dawson delivered five stops apiece. Dawson also recovered a fumble.Ray had four tackles and a sack. Collin Hendon had three tackles and an interception. Caden Angle also finished with three tackles and a sack.

The Trojans built a 44-6 advantage at halftime. The Rams lone score came on a kickoff return in the second quarter.

Gaylesville travels to Valley Head to begin Class 1A Region 8 play on Sept. 6.
